App: Veil Vault
Android package: com.turceni.encriptionapp
Last updated: October 26, 2026

In brief

Veil Vault is a local private vault for photos, videos, documents, and notes. The current version has no accounts, ads, analytics, or third-party crash reporting, and does not send vault contents or usage data to the developers. It does not request internet permission.

Data used by the app

The app stores the following on your device to provide its features:

Vault contents and their metadata index are encrypted in app-private storage. App-level preferences are stored separately and are not all encrypted. The app does not use this information for advertising or profiling, and the developers cannot access your vault.

Camera and file access

Camera permission is requested when you open the in-app camera. Captured photos are processed in memory and encrypted into the vault, rather than saved to the device gallery or a plaintext disk cache. The app does not request microphone permission or record audio. You can deny or revoke camera permission in Android settings and still use the other vault features.

Imports and backup operations use Android's system file picker. The app accesses the files and destinations you select without requesting broad access to your media library. Importing a file creates an encrypted copy; it does not delete or protect the original outside the vault.

Encryption and recovery

The app uses AES-256-GCM to encrypt vault files and metadata. Unlock patterns and recovery codes are used locally to derive keys that protect the vault key. Keep your recovery code private and stored separately. There is no developer-operated account or server-side recovery; the developers cannot unlock your vault or recover its contents if you lose access.

Contents are decrypted in memory when needed to display or edit them. The app locks when it goes into the background and requests Android screenshot and recent-app preview protection. These measures do not guarantee protection on a compromised device, against every device's behavior, or against offline guessing of a weak pattern. Encryption does not protect original files or other copies outside the vault.

Backups and external providers

The app stores vault data in Android's no-backup storage and is configured to exclude app data from automatic Android cloud backup and device transfer. Device manufacturer behavior may vary.

You can manually export an encrypted ZIP backup to a location you choose and restore a backup through the system file picker. A backup contains encrypted vault files, the encrypted index, and protected vault-key material. Anyone with a backup and its unlock pattern or recovery code may be able to access its contents.

If you choose a cloud-backed file provider, that provider may receive or store the selected files or encrypted backup under its own privacy policy. This is a user-directed transfer through the provider, not a developer-operated cloud sync service. The app has no built-in cloud sync.

Retention and deletion

Vault data stays on your device until you delete it. You can delete individual files and notes in the app. Clearing the app's storage in Android settings or uninstalling it removes its local vaults and preferences. Save a usable encrypted backup first if you want to keep your data.

Deletion removes local encrypted files but does not guarantee physical erasure from flash storage. It does not remove imported originals, exported backups, or copies held by other apps or providers. Manage and delete those copies separately, including any provider trash or retained backups.

Purchases and third-party services

The current version may display plan previews, but it does not implement checkout or Google Play Billing and does not collect payment information. The app does not include advertising, analytics, or crash-reporting services. This policy will be updated if data handling or integrated services change.

Children

Veil Vault is not specifically directed at children. The developers do not knowingly collect children's personal information through the app. Content placed in a vault remains subject to the local storage and user-directed backup behavior described above.

Changes and contact

This policy may be updated with the app. For privacy questions or requests, contact the developers at vasile.anghel.1957@gmail.com
alboteanud@gmail.com.

If you email the developers, your email address and any information you include are received through the email provider and used to respond to your request. Do not send vault contents, unlock patterns, or recovery codes.
