In brief
TextPilot, formerly named SMS Scheduler, is an SMS messaging app with scheduled and recurring messages. When it is your default SMS app, it can access and manage SMS conversations on your device and send or receive SMS messages. Scheduled message details are stored on your device. The current app does not use developer-operated accounts or message-sync servers, advertising SDKs, or first-party analytics tools. Some features interact with your mobile carrier, Android speech recognition, and Google Play.
Messages and contacts
If you set TextPilot as your default SMS app, Android grants it the SMS role needed to show conversations, receive incoming SMS messages, send messages, and keep the device's SMS database up to date. This includes message content, phone numbers, and message dates/statuses available to the app through Android. TextPilot uses this information to provide your inbox and conversations. It does not send your conversations to a server operated by the developer.
If you grant Contacts permission, TextPilot reads contact names and phone numbers so you can find recipients and identify people in conversations. You can deny this permission and enter a phone number manually. Names and numbers you select for a scheduled message are stored with that schedule on your device.
Scheduled messages and local storage
You can schedule a message for one or more recipients and choose a send date and time. A message can be set to repeat daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly. To create and run a schedule, TextPilot stores the message text, recipient names and phone numbers, scheduled date and time, repeat interval, and send status/history in its local app database. App preferences, including whether sending is paused, are stored locally as well. While sending is paused, scheduled sends are held until sending resumes. These details are used to display, edit, send, and manage your scheduled messages. Notifications may show a sender, recipient, or message preview according to Android notification settings.
Sending, carriers, and delivery
When an SMS is sent, its recipient phone number and message text are provided to your mobile network/carrier and delivered through that carrier's services. The carrier and recipient then handle the message under their own practices. Your carrier may charge standard messaging fees. Automatic sending requires TextPilot to be selected as the default SMS app; otherwise, the app can notify you to send the message using a messaging app. TextPilot records send status, but that status does not guarantee that a recipient received or read a message.
Voice input
If you choose voice input to compose a message, TextPilot opens the speech-recognition service available on your device. That service processes your speech and returns recognized text to TextPilot. Depending on the device, settings, and provider, audio may be processed on-device or sent to the provider. TextPilot uses the returned text as message text; it does not save an audio recording. The provider's privacy policy and settings also apply.
Subscriptions and Google Play
TextPilot offers a subscription through Google Play Billing for additional scheduled-message capacity. Google Play processes subscription purchases and payment information under Google's terms and privacy policy. TextPilot receives subscription status from Google Play to enable the associated feature. The current app implementation does not send purchase tokens or message data to a developer-operated server.
Sharing and third-party services
The app does not sell your messages or contacts, and does not use them for advertising. Apart from the services described above, the current app does not include an advertising or first-party analytics service. Android, your speech-recognition provider, Google Play, your mobile carrier, and message recipients process information as needed to provide their respective services and under their own policies.
Retention and deletion
You can delete a scheduled message or its history from TextPilot. App-specific schedules and preferences can also be removed by clearing TextPilot's data in Android settings or uninstalling the app. SMS conversations are stored separately in Android's SMS database and may remain on your device; manage or delete them using the SMS features available on your device. Android device backups may include app data depending on your device and backup settings. Backup copies are managed by Android and the backup provider.
Permissions and your choices
Depending on the features you use, TextPilot may request the default SMS role and SMS permissions to handle messages, Contacts permission to select recipients, and notification permission to show message alerts. You can manage app permissions and the default SMS app in Android settings. If you remove the SMS role or deny relevant permissions, some messaging features may not work.
Children
TextPilot is a general-purpose messaging utility and is not designed specifically for children. It does not knowingly collect information from children through a developer-operated account or server.
Changes and contact
This policy may be updated when the app or its data practices change. For privacy questions or requests, contact the developer at vasile.anghel.1957@gmail.com or alboteanud@gmail.com.
